Virtual Classrooms for Kindergarten

As Remote Learning swept across the state, our Kindergarten grade level dove right into finding ways to make learning fun and interactive for young learners.

Our Holly Hill’s Kindergarten created a Youtube Channel named HH Kindergarten filled with playlists from math, sciences, social studies and phonics. We even did daily read alouds for students to see their teacher’s as a way to establish routine.

Many of us have also been working on making Bitmoji Classrooms for the coming school year where parents and students can find everything they need simply by going to our webpage.  Here is an example of Mrs. Kelsey’s Turtle Classroom. Each picture is linked

to a different room that students can find material and classwork for quick and easy age appropriate resources.

If a student clicked on the Letter & Sight Words they can enter a room filled with videos and pictures for them to use. Here is an example of Mrs. Collin’s Disney Theme Letter Room.

Kindergarten has also created some Virtual Field Trips for Students to have some fun experiences during this time of travel restrictions. Here is Mrs. Kelsey & Ms. Yoerke’s Virtual Trip to the Beach!

Or Ms. Yoerke’s Virtual Trip to SeaWorld.

In addition to Virtual Field Trips some of us have been creating Virtual Learning Games for students to participate in and refresh academic skills. Mrs. Kelsey’s Class had the opportunity to play a few games. In her Dinosaur Adventure students had to help Mrs. Kelsey get back to Holly Hill’s when she accidentally traveled back into prehistoric times!

To get her safely back to school students needed to solve several problems correctly!

In Escape to the Beach, students had to help Mrs. Kelsey, get out of Holly Hills so she can start Summer Break!

Though a virtual classroom can never replace a real classroom, it has become a valuable resource for students and parents to access materials and learn.
