In Mrs. Dombrowski's 6th grade science classes, we have been researching and investigating the major events along the Ring of Fire. We are analyzing the history behind our largest tectonic plate, the Pacific Plate, and the activity that has resulted from its boundary movements. In small groups, students are taking a deeper look into the warning signs, technological advancements and destruction from our major events on the Ring of Fire. Students will present their findings through a Google Slides presentation, along with a physical creation that represents their historical event.
In Mrs. Dombrowski's 7th grade science class, we have taken a look at the building blocks that define our genetic makeup. We are investigating the inheritance of dominant and recessive traits, along with how our environmental exposures can affect our genetic outcomes. We have learned about the expression of genes, the probability of genes and how traits are inherited from our biological ancestors. Our students created their own “Bloop Babies” to showcase their understanding of gene inheritance and probability.
We look forward to continuing to explore, inquire & investigate about the world around us from a scientific perspective this year!
