8th Grade Science Students are playing with Bath Bombs!
Maybe “playing” is not the right word to use in a science classroom. But nonetheless, they are learning about bath bombs and the gas that is created when the bath bombs react with water.
This is part of our new science curriculum: OpenSciEd. The bath bomb is the Unit 1 phenomenon, and every lesson revolves around that phenomenon. Every unit has an overall unit question that will be answered by the end of the unit, and every lesson has its own individual question. By the middle of our unit, students will know exactly what ingredients in the bath bomb create the gas that a bath bomb gives off. By the end of the unit, they will know what the gas is made of. They will then be able to relate how the gas is created to how other new things are created in chemical reactions
