Marker lab

Mr. Rehn’s class has been working hard in all four academic subjects. From practicing math facts and time telling skills, to spelling new words and reading new stories, the students have been engaged in their learning. They are also learning about Ancient Greece and the solar system. Last week, the students used the scientific method to make discoveries about solubility by conducting an experiment called “Marker Madness.” During the experiment the student’s asked the question: “are permanent markers really permanent?” Then they formed their own hypothesis and began the experiment. The students wrote down any observations they made about each type of solvent and then tested their hypothesis by placing coffee filters with their permanent marker designs in each one. When they were finished they recorded their results and completed a reflection page.
