catapult

STEM class is all about collaboration, teamwork, communication, and hands on learning. Although this looks a lot different with hybrid/remote learning our middle schoolers have been stepping up to the challenge. Each student receives a packet of materials for their specific grade- for one hands on project for the marking period. We go through the whole engineering design process from research and planning to final product and improvements. 6th graders have created some very useful and safe airdrop packages to deliver in remote areas that need it. 7th grade took simple machines to a new level to create popsicle stick catapult prototypes for a festival game while learning about the forces behind it. 8th grade designed a fan-powered car for the newest toy company working with circuits. Along with these projects we have worked on other design challenges in online versions like tiny house designs, 3D models, scratch programming, etc. Check out some of the awesome designs made by WMS students!
